Flow

Synonyms: flow theory, flow state, being in the zone, hyperfocus

Flow is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

What gets measured gets managed. A flow experience is characterized by three different, but interrelated aspects; namely, absorption, work enjoyment, and intrinsic work motivation

«cash flow»

There are barriers to flow in the workplace. The first reason for the lack of flow is that the objectives of the work are not clear. Some tasks at work may fit into a larger plan of the organization, an individual employee may not see where his individual task suits him.

Second, limited job feedback can reduce motivation and deprive the employee of information about whether he or she did a good job. An employee may not be assigned tasks that challenge him or appear to be important, which could potentially hinder opportunities for flow.
